Juanita graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Journalism. She has organized four delegations for Austin Tan Cerca De La Frontera (ATCF), focusing on advocacy for migrant rights and shedding light on the impact of U.S. economic policies on migration. Through her work with ATCF, Juanita has become deeply involved in highlighting immigrant issues and advocating for social change. In addition to her organizing work, Juanita has gained experience in political campaigns as a canvasser and campaign intern, working on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. Her journalism work centers on immigration and social justice, with articles published on local and online platforms, including investigative reports on legislative reforms and profiles of underrepresented voices. Juanita’s passion for amplifying immigrant voices through journalism and community organizing continues to drive her work for a more equitable future. |

Jana was raised in Jamaica Plain, Boston in a community where celebration and art were essential to resistance. They hold degrees in Critical Geography, Latin American and Latinx Studies, and Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies, along with a Master of Science in Social Work from UT Austin. Since 2016, Jana has been committed to mutual aid and direct action work across the US and México focussing on migrant justice, LGBTQIA+ liberation, and celebration as resistance. In 2020, Jana moved to Austin to serve as a family advocate at Posada Esperanza, and by 2023, they joined ATCF, helping shape our popular education, grant writing, and community arts work. |
